Choir
ChoirTwochoirs, both under the direction of Sara Bartlett, frequently bring an extra note of joyful praise to worship services late August through late May. Mike Jewell accompanies the adult choir, Julie Hill the junior choir. There are no auditions; all that's required is a desire to glorify God with your talent. Both choirs rehearse on Wednesday; the juniors at 3:30 PM and the adults at 7:00 PM. The children sing once a month. Adults sing twice each month and at additional times during the church year.

Luther League
Youth in Junior High (grades 6 through 9) and Senior High (grades 10 through 12) are learning to grow as brothers and sisters in Christ as they join in fellowship, fun and service to others. Regular meetings twice a month are highlighted by activities such as hay rides, fishing trips, food drives for the less fortunate, and serving Easter breakfast and other meals to the congregation. Members of the Senior High group met this summer with thousands of other young Lutherans in New Orleans at the 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering.
Men of Mission
The men of the congregation meet at the church the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM. The focus of their meetings varies widely and includes service projects, speakers and discussions on subjects of current concern to the congregation and the community. Their aim is to serve wherever they are needed.

Krusaders Bible Study
This group, open to men and women, meets for bible study the third Sunday evening of each month. Members take turns hosting the meeting in their home.

New Testament Bible Study
Another option for study of the scripture. This group is studying the New Testament. It meets in individual homes on the first and third Sundays of each month. Anyone is welcome to join. Call 319-461-0404 if you are interested in joining the group.

Women's Circles
There are two women's bible study circles at Immanuel. Hannah Circle meets the second Tuesday of the month at 9:15 AM at the church, and Rachel Circle meets the same day at 1:30 PM, usually at the home of a member.

HOPE Day  (Helping Other People Everywhere)
Formerly known as the Sew Day ladies, these women meet at the church the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 9:00 to 11:30 AM for a morning of socializing and working on various projects for Lutheran World Relief or disaster assistance. These projects include layettes, bags for school kits, and quilts.  [SEE PHOTOS]

Ladies Night Out
The third Tuesday of the month, ladies of the church, young and old, have the opportunity not to have to cook. Instead they meet at area restaurants to enjoy the fellowship, food, fun and conversation.

Bobbi SchmidtMissionary Support
A former member of Immanuel, Bobbi Schmidt, has been called by God to serve orphans in Africa. She will be teaching English at the Kutwanana School in Maputo, Mozambique through April 2010. The congregation helps support Bobbi with fundraising events such as a brunch held prior to the annual congregational meeting in 2008 and a bake sale in summer 2009. Read Bobbi's LATEST EMAIL to us.
