Today, more than ever, we are exposed from a very early age to false
notions about the Bible. To combat this trend, each one of us must keep
searching for understanding about our world through the one written truth that
comes to us from the words of our creator. The purpose of our Christian
education program is to aid us in this search.

On

the first page
of each month's newsletter a scripture lesson is presented to help us in our
study of the ultimate source of comfort and direction in this world - the
Bible. You can read copies of the scripture lessons prior to March 2009 by
clicking
HERE. For further study, there is access
to an online bible on our Links page.
During the school year,

Sunday School attendance is encouraged for all ages,
pre-school through adult. This year we are blessed to have nine devoted
teachers plus capable and willing substitute teachers to direct and challenge
us along "Route 66" - the 66 books of the Bible. Average Sunday
School attendance is approximately 60 students, with adults comprising about
one-third of the group. In addition to the Sunday School classes, several Bible
Study groups offer opportunities to learn from one another. (See our Activities
page.)
Vacation

Bible
School for children ages 3 years through sixth grade, is typically held the
last week in July from Sunday through Thursday. The event generally follows a
theme, similar to the 2008 "Rainforest Adventure," with crafts a
large focus, thanks to many great volunteers. The final evening is usually a
family-oriented celebration with activities such as a family swim at Crooked
Creek Christian Camp.
Beginning

in
sixth grade the young people of Immanuel attend classes based on Luther's
small catechism, where they learn more about the Lutheran faith, in preparation
for their confirmation as adult members and the receiving of the sacrament of
communion.
